Sparta NJ police arrested a man and a woman who allegedly used heroin in the presence of a 2-year-old child.
According to Sparta police, the female suspect and her boyfriend were using the illegal drugs while the woman’s young child was present. The female suspect is from Butler NJ, while the male suspect is from Sparta NJ.
Sparta police officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call for assistance from a worker with the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency. The worker had allegedly noticed heroin while conducting a visit of the female suspect’s residence.
Once the police officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly confirmed the presence of heroin.
The suspects were placed under arrest. They have both been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, and possession of hypodermic syringes.
The suspects are currently being held at the Sussex County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 bail amounts.
Meanwhile, the 2-year-old boy has been taken into protective custody by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
