Police recently arrested three people, including a Rockaway NJ man, who were allegedly distributing crack cocaine at a liquor store in Newark, New Jersey.
Law enforcement got a tip about illegal drug activity at Cline Liquor Store, which is located on Clinton Avenue in the South Ward of Newark, NJ. The Newark Police Department and the Essex County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation and conducted surveillance outside the store.
Detectives who were observing the liquor store reportedly saw the three suspects engage in a drug transaction. According to authorities, a 28-year-old Newark woman exchanged crack cocaine to a 36-year-old Rockaway man outside the liquor store.
Police officers followed the Rockaway NJ suspect as he got into a motor vehicle and drove away. When police stopped the suspect, they reportedly found him in possession of a Ziploc bag filled with a small amount of cocaine.
When Newark police searched the store, they allegedly discovered 50 bags of crack cocaine hidden behind the liquor store’s front counter.
Newark NJ cops arrested two residents of Essex County, including one person who worked at the liquor store.
The Morris County NJ man has been charged with possession of cocaine, while the two Essex County suspects have been charged with distribution of cocaine.
