Police in Jefferson Township NJ recently arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.
The suspect is a 45-year-old male who lives on Lakeview Court in the Oak Ridge area of Jefferson, New Jersey. According to law enforcement, the suspect touched the genitals and breasts of an 11-year-old girl.
The sexual offense was allegedly committed in Jefferson Township. At this time, Morris County prosecutors have not revealed whether the sex crime was committed at a local residence or somewhere else. Authorities did state that the suspect was charged on the same day that he allegedly engaged in the inappropriate sexual conduct.
The suspect faces a number of very serious criminal charges, including sexual assault and child endangerment.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the sexual assault charges, he could potentially end up spending a very long time behind bars in New Jersey State Prison. Additionally, a sex crime conviction would likely result in the suspect being subject to Megan’s Law sex offender registration requirements for the rest of his life.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, NJ. He was being held at the jail in lieu of a $150K bail amount. Although the suspect requested a bail reduction at a bail review hearing in Morris County Superior Court, the superior court judge ordered that the bail remain at $150,000.
