Law enforcement recently arrested a woman who allegedly showed up at Denville police headquarters with a small amount of marijuana.
The suspect, a 27-year-old Paterson NJ woman, went to the Denville police station to meet someone who was in police custody on drug offense charges. According to authorities, the woman brought here three young children with her.
Remarkably, when the suspect arrived at the police station, she was allegedly carrying marijuana. A Denville cop reportedly smelled the odor of raw marijuana on the suspect as she stood in the lobby of the station. Her three young kids were reportedly by her side at the time.
When Denville police officers later peered inside the suspect’s motor vehicle, they reportedly saw drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the car.
The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with numerous drug crimes, including simple possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal operation of a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS).
Additionally, the suspect was charged with child neglect because her juvenile children were allegedly inside the motor vehicle and in the vicinity of the illegal drugs.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was released from police custody on her own recognizance. However, she was not allowed to drive her children home.
