A Morristown NJ woman was reportedly murdered in North Carolina.
According to authorities, the 58-year-old victim was killed by her 34-year-old son. NC police said that the suspect murdered his mother and then murdered his 28-year-old girlfriend.
The homicides occurred at separate residences in Cary, North Carolina.
The suspect’s mother was a Morristown NJ native who lived in New Jersey until July 2014, when she decided to move to North Carolina. She was reportedly working as a realtor in North Carolina.
The suspect, who previously lived in Morristown and New Brunswick, NJ, faces charges for two counts of murder.
If the suspect is convicted on the murder charges, he faces severe penalties that include life imprisonment or even the death sentence.
According to law enforcement, the suspect contacted police and said that he had committed both murders. A short time later, Cary NC police took the suspect into custody.
After being placed under arrest, the suspect was moved to the Wake County Public Safety Center in Raleigh, North Carolina for processing.
