A Morristown NJ man has been charged with assault after allegedly throwing a sandwich at a man in Virginia.
The assault incident allegedly occurred around 9:00 p.m. at a pizza shop located in a Washington suburb.
The 32-year-old suspect, who lives in Morristown New Jersey, allegedly got into an argument with another man at the restaurant. At some point, the verbal altercation became physical and the suspect reportedly tossed a sandwich at the 50-year-old victim.
The victim did not sustain any injuries as a result of the assault incident.
Afterwards, the suspect allegedly fled the scene in a motor vehicle.
Meanwhile, the victim followed the suspect in his car and dialed 911. The victim told local police that the suspect had thrown a sandwich at him.
Police officers arrived in the area a short time later and took the suspect into custody.
The suspect was subsequently charged with assault and battery.
According to authorities, the suspect was intoxicated at the time of his arrest. As a result, he was also charged with driving under the influence (DUI).
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was released from police custody on his own recognizance.
