Mount Olive NJ police arrested a man accused of assaulting a teen at a party.
Police received a report of a fight in the area of Lozier Road in Mount Olive, New Jersey. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found several people engaged in fisticuffs in the roadway.
The fight reportedly began while everyone was gathered for a party. According to police, the 19-year-old suspect attacked the 17-year-old victim during the altercation. The suspect allegedly struck the victim in the face with a beer bottle.
However, police believe that the victim actually started the fight when he approached the suspect and began to hit him. That allegedly prompted the suspect to grab a beer bottle and strike the teenager in the head.
The victim is said to have suffered a severe laceration to his face as a result of the attack.
Both the suspect and the victim were initially taken to Morristown Medical Center so that they could be treated for their injuries.
Later, both individuals were placed under arrest.
The suspect, who lives in Budd Lake NJ, has been charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief. He also faces charges for weapons offenses, including unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Meanwhile, the victim has been charged with simple assault because of his alleged involvement in the fight.
The adult suspect was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility, where he was being held on a $30,000 bail amount. The teenage suspect was released into the custody of his parents.
