A Long Valley NJ man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting an underage girl.
The suspect was 27 years old when he met the victim in 2014 at a church in Pennsylvania. The suspect reportedly became friends with the victim and presented himself as a father figure. He then allegedly took advantage of this position of trust by convincing the underage victim to have sex with him.
The victim was 15 years of age when the suspect had sex with her. According to prosecutors, she was a virgin at the time of the sexual assault.
The suspect will be spending several years behind bars. That’s because he recently pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges after reaching a plea deal with Morris County prosecutors. In exchange for the suspect admitting to the sex crimes, prosecutors agreed to recommend that the suspect be sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison.
Additionally, the suspect will be subject to Megan’s Law sex offender registration requirements after he completes his prison sentence.
