Police in Florham Park NJ are looking for a burglar who reportedly broke into a house and stole a number of expensive items.
Florham Park police received a report of a burglary at a home on Birch Lane. When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the homeowner and investigated the incident.
The homeowner told police that she had been gone all day; when she returned, she found that the rear door had been forced open and many of her possessions were missing.
According to police, the burglar went through the entire house and raided several rooms.
The homeowner reported that the culprit took a 50-inch plasma television, three laptop computers, and several pieces of expensive jewelry which included two Cartier watches.
At this time, authorities have not identified a suspect in the burglary. However, the incident remains under investigation by the Florham Township Police Department detective bureau.
If a suspect is eventually identified and captured by police, they might face significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2, burglary is typically classified as a third degree criminal offense. This means that the suspect could be sentenced to 3–5 years in New Jersey State Prison if they are convicted.
