A teenager was charged with careless driving after allegedly crashing his Jeep into a telephone pole in Riverdale, NJ.
According to law enforcement, the suspect lost control of a Jeep Grand Cherokee while driving on Windbeam Road in Riverdale, New Jersey. At some point while driving down an incline, the suspect reportedly struck a curb, then a concrete wall. The Jeep came to a stop after slamming into a telephone pole and rolling over.
The contact with the telephone pole reportedly resulted in the pole snapping in half.
The accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. Shortly after the car crash, Riverdale police received a call and dispatched officers to the scene. When police got to the area, they saw the damaged Jeep and the telephone pole snapped in half.
Thankfully, neither the driver of the vehicle nor the passenger was injured in the accident.
The car accident resulted in a significant power outage that affected the surrounding Riverdale area. Work crews were able to replace the telephone pole so that the power was not out for very long.
After the accident, Riverdale NJ police conducted an investigation and determined that the driver was at fault for the crash. Police issued the driver a summons for careless driving.
If the driver is ultimately convicted of careless driving, he could potentially be subject to two points on his driver’s license, as well as a fine.
