Police recently arrested a Florham Park man on charges of stealing money from his employer in Madison, New Jersey.
The suspect worked at a Stop and Shop located in Madison, NJ. According to law enforcement, he stole cash from the store register on November 10, 2016.
The suspect is a 20-year-old resident of Florham Park, New Jersey. He reportedly has a prior conviction for a sex crime. According to Morris County prosecutors, the suspect pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of fourth degree criminal sexual contact in connection with the allegedly assault of a 14-year-old girl in East Hanover, NJ. The suspect was initially charged with four counts of sexual assault and four counts of child endangerment, but he reached a plea deal with prosecutors and avoided a trial.
As a result of his earlier criminal conviction, the suspect was sentenced to two years of probation and he was required to register as a convicted sex offender under Megan’s Law.
Prior to working at the Madison NJ Stop and Shop, the suspect was employed as a certified EMT with an ambulance squad. In fact, he was charged with the sexual offenses after allegedly assaulting an underage co-worker.
The suspect now faces additional criminal penalties for allegedly committing a theft offense. Additionally, it is possible that the theft offense is a violation of the suspect’s probation, meaning that he could be headed to prison on the earlier sex crime conviction.
After being arrested and processed for his latest alleged criminal offense, the suspect was released from police custody on his own recognizance. He will have to answer the criminal charges at a later date.
