Bound Brook NJ Sexual Assault Conviction
A Bound Brook NJ man was sentenced to five (5) years in NJ State Prison for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl.
Appearing in Somerset County Superior Court for sentencing, 41-year-old Oscar Cespedes-Barrantes said that he suffered similar sexual abuse when he was a child. Mr. Cespedes-Barrantes acknowledged that he had made “a very serious error.” He also said that he had been plagued by nearly 30 years of alcohol-related problems.
Earlier this year, Mr. Cespedes-Barrantes pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Mr. Cespedes-Barrantes’ conduct was discovered when the girl and her mother reported the sexual assault to Bound Brook police. The child informed authorities that Mr. Cespedes-Barrantes had touched her inappropriately on two occasions.
After Mr. Cespedes-Barrantes serves his sentence, he will be deported.
