A Boonton Township NJ woman was arrested after she was allegedly found driving while intoxicated with a 12-year-old child inside the car.
Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, 53-year-old Elizabeth Tepper. According to officers, Ms. Tepper displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.
Police also saw a 12-year-old child inside the car, as well as a nearly empty bottle of vodka. Police later confirmed that the child is related to Ms. Tepper.
Ms. Tepper allegedly failed several field sobriety tests. She was then charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving while intoxicated in a school zone, driving while intoxicated with a juvenile in the vehicle, having an open container in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and careless driving. According to police, Ms. Tepper’s blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit.
After Ms. Tepper was placed under arrest, the child was turned over to the custody of a guardian. Later, Ms. Tepper was released on bail pending a court date.
