Police in Madison New Jersey recently arrested two people accused of committing a robbery during a drug deal.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. According to law enforcement, the suspects arranged a drug buy at a spot located near Madison Avenue in Madison, NJ.
When the 20-year-old victim arrived at the prearranged location, the suspects allegedly attacked him and stole his marijuana.
Afterwards, the victim dialed 911 and notified Madison NJ police. The victim provided police with a detailed description of his attackers.
The Madison Police Department and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section conducted a joint investigation into the theft incident.
Madison police officers later canvassed the area in search of the suspects. Police eventually found the motor vehicle reportedly used by the suspects to get to the site of the drug transaction.
The two suspects, a 22-year-old male from Morristown NJ and an 18-year-old female from Scotch Plains, were located a short time later.
The male suspect has been charged with robbery and aggravated assault. The female suspect has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
Additional charges in the case could be pending. However, police indicated that the suspects did not use a weapon during the theft, so elevated charges of armed robbery were not brought against the suspects.
After being arrested and charged, the male suspect was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, NJ. He was being held at the jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Meanwhile, the female suspect was released from police custody on her own recognizance.
