Parsippany New Jersey police arrested two people accused of assaulting and robbing a man at a local motel.
The violent incident reportedly went down a short time before 11:00 p.m. on December 30, 2015. According to authorities, the suspects attacked the victim at the Travelodge Parsippany located on Route 46 in Parsippany, NJ.
The first suspect is said to be an acquaintance of the victim. The suspect reportedly got angry with the victim when the victim said that he was out of cigarettes. The victim later told police that the suspect punched and stomped him.
The suspect reportedly stepped out of the room for a moment and then returned with another suspect. The two suspects then allegedly robbed the victim of more than $1,000 in cash. While committing the robbery, the suspects reportedly punched and kicked the victim repeatedly in the head.
After the assault and robbery, the victim dialed 911 and contacted the Parsippany Police Department.
Parsippany police officers staked out the hotel and waited for the suspects to return. At some point, one of the suspects came back to the hotel parking lot in a car. He was reportedly accompanied by a 19-year-old male from Brooklyn, New York.
When police searched the vehicle passenger, they allegedly found him in possession of a small quantity of pot. He was placed under arrest and charged with simple possession of marijuana.
The other suspects include a 22-year-old man from Uxbridge, Massachusetts and a 22-year-old man from Parsippany, NJ. They have been charged with multiple crimes, including robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and theft of movable property. Additionally, one of the primary suspects has been charged with aggravated assault.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the main suspects in the case were taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, NJ. They were being held at the jail in lieu of $65K bail amounts.
