Police in Parsippany New Jersey are searching for three individuals accused of committing a theft at a local Bed Bath & Beyond store.
According to authorities, the thefts were committed around 6:16 p.m. at a Bed Bath Beyond located on Route 46 in Parsippany, NJ. The Parsippany Police Department dispatched officers to the store after employees dialed 911 to alert law enforcement to the alleged theft.
Two of the suspects, a man and a woman, reportedly entered the store and grabbed several Roomba vacuum cleaners. The suspects then allegedly headed toward the doors with the stolen vacuums.
A third suspect was seen holding the doors open as the other suspects ran out of the store and headed for a vehicle in the parking lot.
It is believed that the three suspects worked together to commit the theft.
Parsippany NJ police are actively investigating the theft incident, but they have not yet identified any of the suspects.
Authorities recently released descriptions of the suspects. The female suspect is said to be a black woman standing 5 feet 5 inches tall, with long black hair. She was wearing blue scrubs and black glasses at the time of the theft. The second suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall black male who wore a black jacket and black pants. The third suspect is said to be a heavy-set black man.
If Parsippany police can eventually identify and apprehend the suspects, it is likely that criminal charges for theft of movable property and shoplifting would follow. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:20-11, anyone who unlawfully takes property valued at more than $500 can be charged with a third degree felony. A conviction for third degree shoplifting could lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in NJ State Prison.
The Parsippany Police Department Investigative Division has asked for the public’s assistance with the investigation. Anyone who has information about the suspects or the shoplifting incident should call detectives at 973-263-4311.
