Riverdale NJ police arrested a man after officers allegedly discovered 48 bags of heroin in the man’s car.
A Riverdale patrol officer pulled over a red Chevy Blazer on Hamburg Turnpike. The officer initiated the traffic stop because he knew that the driver had warrants out for his arrest. Moreover, it was known that the driver had a suspended license.
When the driver was unable to present the officer with a valid driver’s license or proof of registration for the vehicle, the officer instructed him to get out of the vehicle.
As the driver stepped out of the car, the officer allegedly saw a hypodermic needle protruding from a cigarette pack. The pack had been tucked in a driver’s side door compartment.
A subsequent search of the car reportedly led to the discovery of 48 bags of heroin. According to law enforcement, the bags had been stamped with the word “casino.”
Police also allegedly found four Alprazolam pills inside the car, as well as “other items used to ingest” heroin.
The suspect was placed under arrest and taken to Riverdale police headquarters.
The suspect has been charged with a number of drug crimes, including possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of hypodermic needles.
Additionally, the suspect has been issued several traffic citations, including driving while suspended.
Police revealed that the suspect has outstanding warrants for his arrest. The warrants were issued out of Bloomingdale, Franklin, Montville, Wayne, and Woodland Park.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown. He is being held at the jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
