Morris County prosecutors recently announced the indictment of a Rockaway Borough man on sexual assault charges.
The sex crimes reportedly took place in August and September 2015 in Rockaway Township, New Jersey. On August 28, 2015, the suspect allegedly abused two boys in a restroom at the Rockaway Townsquare mall on Interstate-80 in Rockaway Township, NJ. On September 10, 2015, the suspect allegedly threatened a five-year-old boy in the bathroom of the Target Store located in Rockaway Township.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit and the Rockaway Township Police Department conducted an investigation into the suspect and eventually obtained enough evidence to criminally charge him.
The suspect, a 35-year-old resident of Rockaway Borough, NJ, was arrested and charged with multiple sexual offenses, including sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, attempted kidnapping, luring, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Now the suspect has been indicted on all of the criminal charges.
If the suspect is convicted on the most serious charges of sexual assault, he could be in store for significant punishments. That’s because sexual assault is classified as a second degree felony. A conviction for second degree sexual assault could result in a sentence of 5-10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
Morris County prosecutors have asked that anyone who has information about the suspect or his alleged sex crimes contact investigators at 973-285-6200 or 973-625-4000.
