A Riverdale NJ man who was already in jail for committing burglaries in northern New Jersey now faces additional burglary charges.
The 28-year-old suspect was arrested by West Milford NJ police in October. He was accused of breaking into a home on Union Valley Road in West Milford, New Jersey. According to authorities, the suspect entered the house by smashing a sunroom glass door and a window in the dining room.
Once inside the house, the suspect allegedly tried to steal the homeowner’s gun; however, the homeowner managed to detain the suspect and disarm him before he could get away. The homeowner then held the suspect at gunpoint until police officers arrived at the scene.
The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with a number of criminal offenses, including burglary, theft of movable property, and criminal mischief. He also faced charges for several weapons offenses, including possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
The suspect was later charged with two commercial burglaries in Little Falls NJ and two commercial burglaries in Holmdel NJ. According to police, the suspect broke into the Grandview Deli and Little Falls Liquors in Little Falls, New Jersey; the suspect then allegedly burglarized Maple Leaf Garden and P&P Sweet Shot in Holmdel, New Jersey.
The suspect is currently being housed at the Passaic County Jail in lieu of $400,000 bail. However, that hasn’t stopped authorities from investigating his prior criminal conduct.
Police have now connected the suspect to another burglary in Bloomingdale NJ last summer. The suspect faces new charges for burglary, theft of movable property, and criminal mischief because police believe that he committed a break-in at the Union Avenue Deli in Bloomingdale, New Jersey.
