A Lake Hiawatha NJ man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a young child during a nine-year period of time.
The 58-year-old suspect, who owns a music production and engineering studio in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany-Troy Hills, was convicted after a two-week trial in Morris County Superior Court.
The victim was between the ages of 7 and 16 when the illegal sexual conduct occurred.
During the trial, Morris County prosecutors presented evidence that the suspect sexually abused the victim in Mount Olive NJ between 1986 and 1995. According to prosecutors, the suspect was an acquaintance of the victim’s family.
Additionally, the victim testified that the suspect sexually assaulted her in three different locations. The suspect’s defense attorney countered by arguing that the victim was “vengeful” and that she was making up stories about the suspect.
At the conclusion of the trial, a Morris County jury found the suspect guilty of first degree aggravated sexual assault and second degree sexual assault.
After the guilty verdict was rendered, the superior court judge ordered that the suspect be held at the Morris County Jail in Morristown NJ until sentencing in September. The judge also revoked the suspect’s $300,000 bail.
When the suspect is sentenced, he faces up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison on the first degree felony charges.
