A Budd Lake NJ resident faces criminal charges after allegedly assaulting a man with a baseball bat in Mount Olive, New Jersey.
The attack reportedly took place outside of a 7-Eleven convenience store located on Route 206. Mount Olive police officers were dispatched to the store after receiving a report of a fight. The person who called 911 indicated that the suspect had a baseball bat.
When police officers got to the scene, they saw the 27-year-old suspect sitting in his car, which was parked in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot across the street from the 7-Eleven.
The officers investigated the incident and learned that the suspect was an acquaintance of the victim. Police believe that the suspect first went to the victim’s home to confront him; however, the victim apparently wasn’t at his residence on that occasion.
Sometime later, the suspect reportedly saw the victim outside of the 7-Eleven on Route 206. The suspect then allegedly confronted the victim in the parking lot and struck him in the leg with a baseball bat.
The suspect has been charged with a number of crimes, including aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and harassment. He also faces charges for drunk driving (DWI), reckless driving, and driving while suspended.
After being arrested, the suspect was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, NJ. The suspect was being held at the jail on $20,000 bail.
