Police arrested a Mount Olive NJ man accused of prostituting a young girl within the township.
The victim was a 17-year-old girl who resides in Mount Olive, New Jersey. According to law enforcement, the victim came forward to inform authorities that the suspect led her to engage in prostitution several times over a 10-day period. The victim said that the suspect transported her to hotels located in Mount Olive NJ so that she could engage in prostitution. The suspect then allegedly kept a percentage of the money she earned.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit opened an investigation and eventually determined that enough evidence existed to charge the suspect.
Mount Olive detectives placed the suspect under arrest on Thanksgiving morning. News of the arrest was announced in a joint press release issued by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mount Olive Police Department.
The suspect is a 23-year-old man from Mount Olive, NJ. He faces a number of criminal charges, including first degree human trafficking, first degree promoting prostitution, and third degree child endangerment.
If the suspect is convicted on the first degree felony charges, he could end up spending decades behind bars in New Jersey State Prison.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail in lieu of a $150K bail amount.
