Police arrested a Morris Plains NJ man accused of causing a drunk driving accident in Denville, New Jersey.
The suspect is a 39-year-old resident of Morris Plains, NJ. He allegedly got drunk and fell asleep while driving on Franklin Road in Denville, NJ.
The Denville Police Department got a call from an ambulance driver about a motorist swerving across lanes. When Denville cops arrived in the area, they reportedly saw the suspect heading into oncoming traffic on the roadway.
According to law enforcement, the suspect nearly crashed into several vehicles on the road and then almost struck a police patrol car.
Denville NJ cops eventually managed to stop the suspect’s car. Police determined that the suspect was intoxicated when he reportedly failed field sobriety tests, so he was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). The suspect was also cited for traffic violations like reckless driving, failure to keep right, failure to maintain lane, and improper turn.
It is believed that the suspect may have consumed an entire bottle of vodka because police found an empty vodka bottle in the motor vehicle. Additionally, the suspect allegedly told police officers that he was drinking and driving.
