A Montclair NJ woman was seriously injured after she had to serve into oncoming traffic in order to avoid another vehicle on a Roxbury NJ road.
According to authorities, the 32-year-old victim was driving a 2009 Nissan Murano on Route 206 in Roxbury, New Jersey.
The woman was traveling south on the highway when she saw a vehicle stopped in front of her. She immediately swerved into the northbound lane on the highway so that she could avoid hitting the car which was stopped.
Unfortunately, the woman ended up colliding with a 2014 Kia Sorrento. The other vehicle was being driven by a 53-year-old man from Basking Ridge, NJ.
The woman suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash. According to police, she broke both of her legs in the accident. Thankfully, the other driver was not injured.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene a short time after the collision.
Although a helicopter was placed on standby, emergency responders were able to take the woman by ambulance to Morristown Medical Center. The woman received medical treatment for her injuries at the hospital.
Police had to shut down the northbound lane of Route 206 for approximately one hour after the accident.
Although no charges have been filed at this time, it is possible that citations could be issued for traffic violations such as reckless driving or careless driving.
