Police in Madison New Jersey are on the lookout for a man who allegedly attempted to lure several underage boys into a motor vehicle.
According to law enforcement, the suspect tried to lure four boys, all of whom were 12 years old, into an SUV on a street in Madison, NJ. The incident went down around 8:45 p.m. near Ridgedale Avenue and Sayre Court. The suspect reportedly drove a greenish/yellowish, box-style SUV down the street and approached the juvenile victims. When the suspect got close to the children, he reportedly rolled down the driver’s side window and told the kids that they should “get in” his vehicle.
The young victims refused to get inside the car and instead continue walking along the sidewalk. However, the suspect reportedly failed to take “no” for an answer: he allegedly got out of his SUV and ran after the children. The victims sped up, prompting the suspect to return to his SUV and drive away.
The victims later spoke with their parents about the incident, with the adults then contacting the Madison Police Department. Madison NJ cops canvassed the area in search of the suspect, but they were unable to locate him.
Now law enforcement is asking for the public’s assistance with the investigation. Anyone who has seen the suspect, described as a male in his 40s and with a beard, should immediately notify Madison NJ detectives at 973-593-3014.
