Madison NJ police recently arrested a local man who allegedly exposed himself to children on a playground.
According to law enforcement, the sexual offense occurred at Dodge Field, a playground located on Greenwood Avenue in Madison, New Jersey.
The 68-year-old suspect allegedly sat in the playground area at the park and exposed his genitals.
The Madison Police Department received multiple calls about the incident and dispatched officers to the scene. Police conducted an investigation and soon located the suspect walking approximately one block away from the park.
The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with lewdness and disorderly conduct.
If the suspect is convicted on the lewdness charges, he will be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-4, lewdness can be classified as a fourth degree crime. A conviction for fourth degree lewdness could result in a sentence of up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was released from police custody. He has a pending court appearance in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown, NJ.
