A Lincoln Park, NJ man was arrested for allegedly threatening several people with a knife and vandalizing a vehicle.
Lincoln Park, NJ police officers were dispatched to a residence on George Cobb Lane after a person called 911 and reported being chased by a man with a knife.
The 911 caller provided officers with a description of the attacker, which eventually led officers to identify the 24-year-old suspect and place him under arrest.
Police indicated that the suspect was “highly intoxicated” at the time of the arrest. Police also believe that the suspect vandalized a vehicle at the residence.
After being arrested, the suspect was taken to Lincoln Park police headquarters and charged with simple assault and criminal mischief.
In New Jersey, simple assault is addressed by N.J.S.A. 2C:12:1(a). As set forth by the statute, simple assault is a disorderly persons offense. If the suspect in this case is convicted of simple assault, he could be sentenced to up to six months in the county jail and fined as much as $1,000.
The suspect’s bail was set at $2,500.
