A music teacher who lives in Randolph New Jersey has reportedly pleaded guilty to charges of distributing child pornography from his home.
According to Morris County prosecutors, the suspect admitted to committing the sexual offense. He had been accused of downloading illicit sexual images of minors on his personal home computer and then trading the illegal photographs over the Internet.
The suspect is a 30-year-old Randolph NJ resident who used to teach music to young students in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Although the suspect was also accused of using a school computer to view images of child pornography, he has not admitted to doing so.
Now that the suspect has formally pleaded guilty to the sex crime charges, he faces severe penalties. He recently made an appearance in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown NJ and admitted to downloading and distributing child pornography.
It is expected that prosecutors in the case will recommend that the suspect be sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison.
Additionally, when the suspect is eventually released from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
Another important part of the suspect’s plea agreement with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office is that he will have to forfeit his teaching license. As a result, the suspect will no longer be allowed to teach anywhere in the State of New Jersey.
