An East Hanover NJ man is headed to jail after pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.
The sex crime incident occurred on Christmas Eve of last year. According to Morris County authorities, the suspect sexually touched the underage victim at Giuletta & Romeo Pizzeria and Ristorante, a pizzeria located in East Hanover NJ. The suspect allegedly committed an act of sexual penetration with the juvenile.
Authorities investigated the suspect and ultimately decided that enough evidence existed to arrest him
The suspect is a 32-year-old man who lives in East Hanover, New Jersey. His family owns the pizza shop where the sexual assault was committed and he was working as a restaurant manager at the time. After being placed under arrest by law enforcement the suspect was charged with sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child.
In June, the suspect reached a plea agreement with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and pleaded guilty to the criminal sexual contact charges. In exchange for the suspect entering the guilty plea on the fourth degree felony charges, Morris County prosecutors agreed to drop the more serious sexual offense charges.
Now he has been formally sentenced in the case. A Morris County Superior Court judge sentenced the suspect to one year in the Morris County Jail and four years of probation after he is released from jail.
Additionally, the suspect will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
