Police recently arrested a Wantage NJ man who allegedly drove around his neighborhood and threatened to kill several people.
New Jersey State Police received a number of reports from people claiming that the 62-year-old suspect was driving around Wantage threatening to harm them. According to the callers, the suspect was armed with a handgun.
Coincidentally, police were also called to the suspect’s house for a very different reason. When the suspect arrived at his residence on Sussex Road in Wantage, he saw NJ state troopers. Police had been dispatched to the home after receiving a report of a woman having a stroke.
It is believed that the woman who needed medical assistance may be the suspect’s wife. At this time, officials have not released any information about her condition.
As soon as the suspect arrived at the residence, police ordered him to exit the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s car did not result in police finding any weapons. However, when police searched the suspect’s home, they reportedly discovered a number of weapons, including an unregistered rifle.
The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with terroristic threats and unlawful possession of a weapon.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to the Sussex County Jail. He was being held at the jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
