Police in Roxbury NJ arrested two suspects who allegedly gained access to an unlocked motor vehicle and tried to steal the owner’s belongings.
The suspects, who hail from Ledgewood NJ, were allegedly discovered by the owner of the vehicle. According to authorities, the victim returned to his home on Mountain Road and saw the suspects rummaging through his car. The victim’s vehicle was parked in his driveway at the time.
Roxbury police officers were called to the scene a short time later. They immediately began to canvass the area and soon found one of the suspects on Emmans Road. The suspect was placed under arrest without incident.
Police officers eventually found the other suspect hiding in the woods near Mountain Road. A Morris County K-9 unit assisted in the location and apprehension of the suspect.
After being placed under arrest, the suspects were charged with burglary and theft of movable property.
The second suspect, who was apprehended by the K-9 unit, was transported to a local hospital to be treated for dog bite wounds. After receiving medical treatment, the suspect was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.
The other suspect was released from custody on his own recognizance; he will have to appear in Roxbury Municipal Court to answer the charges against him.
