A ticket has been issued against a man suspected of driving a shuttle bus which struck and killed a toddler in Chester Township NJ last month.
The accident occurred during fall festivities at Alstede Farms, which is located on Route 513 (or Old Route 24) in Chester Township, New Jersey. The site has posed a major problem for traffic officers on weekends because of severe traffic jams. Alstede Farms is visited by tens of thousands of people each year.
According to witnesses, two shuttles buses collided in the parking lot.
The 2-year-old victim died when she became trapped between the two shuttle buses. According to prosecutors, the girl sustained blunt head trauma in the crash. The young girl was given CPR at the scene, but she did not survive.
The victim’s mother was also struck by the buses. Thankfully, she did not suffer life-threatening injuries. However, she did break her femur. Additionally, another person who was pinned between the buses shattered her pelvis. Both women were transported by helicopters to the Morristown Medical Center for surgery.
The crash has been classified as an “accident.”
At this time, the driver of one of the shuttle buses has been issued a ticket for careless driving. However, the investigation into the incident remains ongoing. If the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office determines that criminal charges should be filed against the suspect, the case could be referred back to the Chester Township Municipal Court.
