Parsippany, NJ police are investigating several robberies that occurred recently.
Police officers were called to a residence on Beverwyck Road after receiving a report of a burglary. The resident told police that he arrived home to find his bedrooms in disarray. Police said that the burglar or burglars probably entered the residence through a bathroom window that had been pried open.
Police questioned witnesses in the surrounding area and learned that a two-door gray Pontiac sedan had been parked nearby around the time of the burglary. Witnesses told police that two males were in the car.
Another theft was reported at a home on Tarn Drive. Police arrived at the scene after receiving a report of a burglary. The residents said that they had returned home to find their front and rear doors open. According to the residents, several items were missing from their bedroom, which had been ransacked. Among the missing items were an Apple iPad and a box of jewelry.
Police believe that the burglar or burglars gained access to the home through a front window that had been forcibly opened.
In addition to the home burglaries, there were also several motor vehicle burglaries reported in Parsippany. Police received calls that seven motor vehicles had been broken into on Cedar Terrace, Wildwood Trail, Hawkins Avenue, and Druid Hill Drive.
All of the vehicles were unlocked when the burglar or burglars entered them during the overnight hours. According to police, several items were taken, including a GPS unit, a pocketbook, and gift cards.
In New Jersey, burglary is a very serious theft crime. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2, burglary is typically classified as a third degree felony. If the suspects in this case are apprehended and later convicted, they could face up to five years in NJ State Prison.
